About the programme
Do you wish to increase your competence in methods for analysing large amounts of data?
According to IBM, 90% of the data in the world today has been created in the last two years alone. By 2020, the International Data Corporation (IDC) estimates the amount of digital information created and replicated in the world to be around 40 zettabytes. This is more than 50 times the amount of digital information in 2010.
Access to large amounts of data is only useful if they can be used as a basis for different types of analyses that companies need. The need to learn different techniques for analysis of large amounts of data are therefore increasing in today's society.
No industries, clusters or businesses will be unaffected by the developments in Big Data. Those who are able to build up expertise and systems for using Big Data in their own business fast enough will be able to extract huge competitive advantages.
In this study we will focus on:
- Storage and aggregation of large amounts of data (Apache Hadoop / MapReduce, no SQL databases, Memchached, etc.)
- Analysis of large amounts of data (statistics, algorithms, data mining, machine learning, etc.)
Recommended prerequisites are basic knowledge in:
- linear algebra
- probability theory
Higher Education Entrance Qualification or prior learning and work experience.
