Tina Helene BunæsFaculty of Computer Sciences
Tina's main research interests include game- and virtualization technology. At Østfold University College she investigates how this type of technology can be used as training applications for employees involved in time and safety critical work at hospitals. She is also interested in game-based learning, where virtualization technology is used to both preserve and theach cultural heritage.
PhD project: Virtual simulations for supporting interprofessional collaboration between healthcare practitioners
The project focus on the different challenges related to time and safety critical work, were practitioners must adapt standardized routines to accommodate different contingencies. Tina will explore how virtual task trainers simulating routines can improve treatment and increase patient safety, and how these simulations can support seamless collaboration between simultaneous users, hoping that this can provide learning opportunities by raising the awareness of coordination between interprofessional practitioners.
The project is a joint endeavor between multiple partners; the Interaction Design research group (FIxD) at Østfold University College (HiØ), the Design of Information System (DESIGN) group at the University of Oslo, the division of Visual Interface Technologies at the Institute for Energy Technology (IFE), Østfold Hospital Trust, and the center for simulation and innovation (SSI) at the Faculty of Health and Welfare (HiØ).
Project timeline: January 2020 – December 2022
Tina wrote her master's thesis in Applied Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Sciences in 2017/2018. Between 2018 and 2019 she was employed as a assistand professor at the faculty, and today is working as a research fellow at the University College.
