Norwegian Theatre Academy (NTA) accepts exchange students into our programmes when applicable and encourages our own students to take part of their training abroad. On this page, you will find information for our current students interested in studying abroad and information for students wishing to study abroad at NTA.

For current NTA students

Students accepted into degree programs at NTA are able to participate in study abroad as part of their training. Through our international network, NTA seeks to organize tailored opportunities that meet the individualized needs of our students.

What you need to do to study abroad:

  • March 1:  for study abroad in the fall semester
  • October 1: for study abroad in the spring semester

For incoming international exchange students

NTA will be accepting applications from international exchange students for the spring semester 2023. MA students in Scenography and MA student in Performance are encouraged to apply.

Step 1: Eligibility evaluation

Due to the special nature of our programmes, all students wishing to be nominated for exchange to NTA must first be evaluated for eligibility. The deadline for submitting the required documents for evaluation is April 1 for the fall intake and October 1 for the spring intake.

Required documents to be submitted for evaluation:

  • Motivation letter (300-400 words)
  • Digital portfolio*
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Transcript of records from your current study programme

*Please send a link to a portfolio of some of your work as performer, actor, actress or scenographer. You can include video, still images and sounds. Include a pdf file with a text describing the contents of your portfolio.

Please be aware that some providers allow to upload large files for a limited period of time. Use a provider that allow us to access your portfolio at any time.

All required documents must be sent to by the evaluation deadline.

Step 2: Nomination

After it is determined that you are eligible to apply, you must then be nominated by your home institution. Students from institutions with whom we currently have active student mobility agreements must be nominated by their home institution using our online nomination portal:

Students coming from institutions with whom we do not currently have an active student mobility agreement will receive instructions on how to proceed.

Step 3: Application
