Avdeling for informasjonsteknologi

Avdeling for informasjonsteknologi er lokalisert på Remmen i Halden, og har ca. 600 studenter og 30 ansatte. Dette utgjør det største IKT-miljøet i norsk høgskolesektor. Avdelingen samarbeider tett med næringslivet for å sikre et faglig godt studietilbud som gjør IT-kandidatene attraktive i arbeidsmarkedet, bl.a. gjennom avdelingens Advisory Board for IT-studier. Avdelingen tilbyr bachelor, master, årsstudier innen digitale medier og design, informatikk, informasjonssystemer og dataingeniørfag. 

Plans for an Open Source Software training course discussed

Ostfold University College is one of the partners in an Erasmus + project that plans for new information technology training course on Open Source Software (OSS), in order to meet the need for European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within IT.

The final output will be a massive open online course (MOOC) on the use of OSS by SMEs.

By 13.-15. September the project partners had a meeting hosted by the IT-department at Ostfold University College in Remmen.

Since 2016, five European institutions from the UK, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Spain have been involved in the development of an exciting project under the Erasmus+ program, to improve the quality of vocal training. The European Commission, through the Spanish Service for the internationalization of Education (SEPIE), supports the project. (www.cisoss.eu)

Cloud and Internet Services with Open Source Software for SMEs (CISOSS) is an Erasmus + KA2 project started in 2015 gathering the efforts of five different partners including industry, government and academia, being Ostfold University College the Norwegian side of the project.

Ostfold University College hosted in its Remmen campus the third meeting of the project. In the agenda of the meeting partners presented main outputs of the project including SMEs training needs, training program schema and course contents. All partners presented their contribution to the project and during the meeting, several outputs in the quality assurance program were developed in order to improve contents and teaching approach. Finally, consortium discussed project dissemination and sustainability by adding new contents to the already defined plans.

By means of the leadership of Prof. Dr. Colomo-Palacios, Ostfold University College participates in the effort to disseminate its experience in the design, development and deployment of OSS-based systems in organizations and more precisely in SMEs.

The project is planned to end by February 2018 and by the end of 2017, pilot course will start in Spain.
