Summary: This book tells the story of a busker, Fred, and his cat, Tabby McTat, who has a very loud and strong miaow. Together, they live a happy life singing songs of this and that, and people throw coins Fred’s old checked hat. But one day, a thief steals his hat, and in the chase, Fred falls and breaks his leg and is taken to hospital. When he is out of hospital, he cannot find his beloved cat. Tabby McTat has met a new cat friend and is looked after by his friend’s family. But, he misses Fred, and one day, Tabby McTat sets out searching for him. Luckily, he hears a well-known voice singing, and he is united with Fred. But Tabhy McTat misses his new family, and another cat with a strong and loud miaow takes over his place as Fred’s companion.
