Summary: Pipkin is a small penguin who loves to ask big questions. He wants to know exactly how big a million is. He starts asking others to find an answer to his question. His mother has just caught ten fish, which is far from a million. He meets a crowd of penguins huddled in a circle to keep warm; they are one hundred. Further, he joins a seal cub and they decide that there must be at least one thousand snowflakes. Back home, his mother takes him outside in the evening to see the stars; “Here’s your million, my little Pip. You can make a wish on every single one.” Attached in an envelope at the end of the book, there is a big poster to illustrate one million stars. The book is beautifully illustrated.
