Summary: This is the story about Hassan, a young boy from Somalia, who fled to England together with his family. To start with, he does not feel at home in school; the children are friendly, but Hassan does not understand anything of what they say. The teacher asks the children to paint on big sheets, and Hassan thinks of the village back home in Somalia and paints a colourful picture of his home. But, then he remembers what happened and splatters red paint all over it. The teacher thinks he has just spoilt the picture. But, then a translator helps Hassan to explain his painting to the others and, gradually, things change. He wants to paint a new picture showing his present situation.
