Summary: This book tells the story about a new family moving into the neighbourhood where Joe lives. Joe’s mother explains that the family are asylum seekers. Joe sees a young boy sitting quietly on the steps, and his mother says that he probably needs peace and quiet. Joe wants to help this boy, and he walks over to him and says hello, but the boy does not respond. Joe decides to show him all the silent places he knows, and by the end of the day, the refugee boy smiles at him, but still without uttering one word. The next day, Joe walks over to the refugee boy’s house, but no one answers when he rings the bell. His mother tells him that the family left in the middle of the night.
