Content

The development of digital technologies offers new opportunities, but also poses major challenges for businesses as they undergo digital transformation. The ever-accelerating technological development with a strong focus on digitalization and artificial intelligence will change what private and public businesses work with and how they carry out their work.

Rule-based and customer-initiated sustainability requirements create a need for the introduction of digital solutions that are sustainable in themselves and that strengthen the sustainability of the business. The ability to understand the development and connect it to strategy, work processes and innovation can make it easier for businesses to maneuver in an ever-changing landscape.

Digital transformation and sustainability take a socio-technical starting point where digitalization and sustainability occur in interaction between participants, knowledge and technology (and are seen as a social phenomenon) to strengthen both economic growth and environmental responsibility. By exploiting the synergies, an integrated process is sought where digitalization and sustainability support each other to create innovative solutions that both promote economic growth and meet environmental goals.

Throughout the course, several topics within digital transformation and sustainability will be discussed to give students insight into and understanding of developments, tools and methods. The course first emphasizes models, trends and tendencies that characterize digital transformation and sustainability, then projects connected to current topics.
