About the programme

Are you an architect, a performing or visual artist thinking about theatre and keen on creating space? We approach scenography as the synthesis of theatre and architecture and explore different forms and iterations of this in theatre, exhibition, film and in the public space. Theory classes, laboratories and productions with outside partners will lead to your final MA project as a contribution to the ever unfolding realm of scenography.

About the programme

The language of the programme is English.

The courses are based on the study programme and are adapted to the needs and specific interests of each study group. Classes emphasize practical exploration of scenographic projects, in- and outside the academy. They include workshops, study trips, self-studies, theory classes and reading, as well as possibilities for exchange. Additionally the MA students engage in artistic research, curate and organize seminars in connection with their MA project topics.

The final Master's Production will be realized within NTA’s network of affiliated universities, theatres and museums, which can be expanded according to the relevant respective contexts.

Graduates will have qualifications commensurate with an advanced knowledge of the extended field of scenography for the performing arts, in museum and exhibition design, design for film and video production as well as in art for urban and other public spaces.

The programme is fully accredited to Norwegian and European standards and confers 120 credits.
