Recognition and Credit Transfer

If you wish to apply for courses completed at other institutions to be recognised as equivalent to courses in your study programme at Østfold University College, you may apply for credit transfer.

Before submitting an application, you should compare the course you have previously completed with the course for which you are seeking recognition. Do they have equivalent learning outcomes and the same number of credits?

Your application should clearly explain why you should not be required to complete the course or compulsory assignment for which you are requesting an exemption, and how you have already achieved the relevant learning outcomes.

Unfortunately, Østfold University College does not have the capacity to provide advance assessments of whether courses or compulsory assignments can be granted credit transfer. Therefore, if you are considering applying for admission to a study programme at HiØ and would like to explore your options for credit transfer, you should compare the learning outcomes and number of credits of the relevant courses yourself to get an indication of whether recognition may be possible.

You must upload course descriptions, including reading lists, with your application.

Please note that if Østfold University College is to issue your degree certificate, at least 60 credits must have been completed at HiØ.

HiØ can retrieve examination results from other higher education institutions in Norway. Therefore, you will normally not need to submit a transcript of records.

However, education completed at certain institutions, such as BI Norwegian Business School, must still be documented by uploading a transcript of records.
