Academic interests
Interests include acute and critical care nursing, nurse anaesthesia, patient safety, and surgical and acute care pathways. Particular interest is directed towards how healthcare services can be organised and developed to ensure safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care for individuals experiencing acute or critical illness.
Additional areas of interest include health promotion and disease prevention, with a focus on the relationship between clinical healthcare services, public health, and health inequalities
Courses taught
Teaching activities are primarily focused on acute and critical care nursing, clinical assessment skills, and simulation-based learning.
Course coordinator for the postgraduate programme in Acute Care Nursing and contributes to teaching within the Bachelor programmes in Nursing and Paramedicine.
Teaching is closely linked to both research and clinical practice and incorporates simulation and other practice-oriented learning activities to strengthen students’ clinical decision-making and preparedness for complex and acute situations.
Background
Registered Nurse Anaesthetist with a Master’s degree in Nurse Anaesthesia from the University of South-Eastern Norway. Clinical expertise includes the care of patients before, during, and after surgical procedures, as well as the management of acute and critical situations requiring advanced monitoring, airway management, circulatory support, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health Science from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. Public health science focuses on understanding and preventing disease, injury, and risk factors in populations, while also identifying determinants that promote health, quality of life, participation, and social sustainability.
Currently a PhD candidate in surgical patient safety. The doctoral project investigates postoperative outcomes, with a particular focus on complications, reoperations, and readmissions. The research aims to improve understanding of risk factors and variations in surgical care pathways and how such knowledge can contribute to quality improvement in healthcare services.
Clinical experience includes work in emergency departments, anaesthesia services, prehospital emergency care, and neurology.
