Background
I hold a PhD on Clinical Ethics Committees in municipal healthcare services, and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary collaboration in the health and social care sector. In addition, I have postgraduate education in geriatrics, palliative care, and project management.
I am deeply concerned with how ethical challenges affect healthcare professionals, and how these can lead to experiences of moral distress, insecurity, and a sense of inadequacy if they are not addressed systematically. Through structured ethical reflection and discussing ethical dilemmas together with others, we become a little wiser.
As healthcare professionals, we must dare to invite those directly affected into conversations about ethical issues, as well as engage in difficult but important topics through advance care planning.
