Ethical and reliable AI will be a cornerstone of a forward-looking and fair society. With Z-Inspection® Initiative and Trustworthy AI Labs we have both a method for assessing solutions and an arena for discussions that will help us along the way.

Following the presentation that included examples of AI use and assessment in the health sector, there was time for questions from the 90 participants.

The dialogue focused on the essential ethical principles for AI implementation, stressing the need for strategies that universally benefit society. It covered the application of AI in clinical decision-making, the vital processes for obtaining informed consent, and safeguarding patient rights during data collection. The inclusion of feedback systems and a wide range of patient representatives was emphasized to ensure diverse viewpoints and concerns are considered.

The webinar also highlighted the critical role of thorough external audits, utilizing protocols such as Z-Inspection®, and clinical trials to verify that AI tools, when used alongside healthcare professionals, genuinely improve outcomes. Additionally, the discussion underlined the commitment to transparent research and the unrestricted sharing of information.

How can artificial intelligence contribute to prevention, diagnosis and treatment, and what consequences does it have for the health sector and society in general? That is the main interest of the the webinar series, organized by Norwegian Centre for e-Health Research, Livv, NORA - Norwegian Artificial Intelligence Research Consortium and the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
