Work Areas
Michael works as a Chief Engineer at the Department of Information Technology and Communication, where he leads the work on generative artificial intelligence. As a founding member of the university college's AI Council, he contributes to the strategic direction for AI adoption at HiØ. In addition, he works 50% as the professional lead for the university college's new AI Taskforce, which is responsible for ensuring the safe and responsible implementation of GenAI technology within the organization.
Michael works on the development of practical AI solutions for education and research, and is responsible for AI-related skills development for students, staff, and external partners. He teaches generative AI at the bachelor's and master's levels, and is an active contributor to the Norwegian public debate on the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
Academic Interests
Michael specializes in applied generative artificial intelligence, with a focus on translating complex AI technology into practical solutions for organizations. He works with both local models and API-based solutions, and has broad experience with everything from simple AI agents to advanced multi-agent systems.
Since 2022, he has been dedicated to exploring generative AI technology like ChatGPT and similar tools in both research and teaching contexts. He has developed comprehensive courses and frameworks that make AI technology accessible to various target audiences, from students to leaders in the public sector.
In addition to his role at HiØ, Michael is a sought-after speaker at national and international conferences, where he shares insights on the practical use of generative AI. He has experience developing customized AI courses for both the business community and the public sector, and works actively to connect research, education, and the practical implementation of AI technology.
