How to find a textbook in the library
We have some copies of all textbooks that are on reading lists. We also have one day loan copies of all textbooks - these must be returned the same day.
1. Go to the reading list in your course room in Canvas.
2. Click on "Full details" or "Available at..." on the book you want to find.

3. Under "Links and availability" you will see the number of available reading list copies and day loan copies, and which campus library the book is located at.

4. Each book has a shelf signature consisting of numbers and three letters. In the screenshot above, the book's shelf signature is 809.89282 Møt. The book is physically marked with this shelf signature on the spine.
5. In the library you will find an overview that shows which number you will find on which shelf. Look at this overview to find the correct shelf number. Go to the correct shelf and find the syllabus book.

Is the book available at your campus? For the fastest access, pick it up directly from the library shelf instead of ordering it.
Finding other books
The library also has many other books for your studies. You can search for books in the library's search tool Oria, where you can also find articles, journals and other resources, both physical and electronic.
In Oria you can see if the book is available and where to find it. If the book is unavailable, you can log in with Feide and put yourself on the waiting list. Under "My account" you can manage loans and reservations.
You also have access to subject-specific databases where you can search for articles. These can be found in our database list.
How to borrow?
Use your student card or student ID app at our self-checkout machine to borrow books. You can also return books at the machine or in our return boxes outside the library at both campus libraries.
The usual loan period is 4 weeks. Textbooks on reading lists have a 2 week loan period. Books are automatically renewed unless someone is on the waiting list.
Search for electronic literature at home
You have access to all electronic literature, even when you are at home. In that case, you must connect to HiØ's network by using VPN.
