Østfold University of Applied Sciences’ Rights Retention Strategy

On 17 April 2023, Østfold University of Applied Sciences’ Rights Retention Strategy entered into force. This makes it possible for the university’s employees to self-archive the accepted author manuscript (AAM) of their peer-reviewed articles in the repository NVA, regardless of the publishers’ own policies.

Østfold University of Applied Sciences’ Rights Retention Strategy ensures that employees can always make the accepted author manuscript of a peer-reviewed article openly available without embargo through self-archiving in NVA, regardless of any restrictions imposed by the publisher.

Through this strategy, Østfold University of Applied Sciences contributes to the national objective that results from all publicly funded research shall be openly available.

As a researcher, you retain the copyright to your work, while the university assumes legal responsibility for its distribution via the repository; there is no need to inform the publisher.

Employees have the right to opt out of making their work openly available in NVA. This is done by contacting the library.

Østfold University of Applied Sciences’ Rights Retention Strategy applies to scientific articles published after 17 April 2023.
