On 18 and 19 June, we invite researchers, PhD candidates, and master's students to a seminar on language and literacy research.

This seminar aims to strengthen the dialogue between language/multilingualism research and literacy research and to bring together researchers across disciplines. We will explore ways in which research in these fields may complement each other, and contribute insights and perspectives to inform future research.

The seminar will present theoretical and empirical perspectives across academic disciplines. We invite participants to share insights and join conversations about how the academic fields of language/multilingualism and literacy may meet and illuminate each other, and moreover, how critical perspectives may play into this encounter.

We will explore the above-mentioned themes via:

  • Presentations by established researchers in the fields
  • A workshop where we discuss how theories from the different fields can shed light on concrete empirical data
  • A panel discussion, as well as an open discussion with the audience

The seminar as a whole is conducted in English.

Target audience and registration

The event is aimed at researchers and PhD/Master’s students. While participation is free, we do need an overview of the number of participants. We therefore kindly ask that you register via this form. Registration deadline: 25 May.

Program

The seminar is held across two days. We provide a light lunch on day 1 for registered participants. See the detailed program here.

For PhD candidates / Master’s students / postdocs

Would you like to present your project? Anyone with projects related to language and/or literacy is welcome to present their project on day 2 of the seminar (NB: in English). We allocate 15–20 minutes per presentation plus time for comments/discussion.
