With a background as Cand.sociol from the University of Oslo, Trude brings strong expertise in sociology, pedagogy, and digital communication. Her research focuses on how young people use gaming as leisure activity, social arena, and, for some, a career path. She explores gaming as a phenomenon, the rise of e-sports, and examines social, identity-building, and gender perspectives related to electronic games.
Her project spans global trends and local challenges, including collaboration with E-sport for alle (E4A), a new initiative promoting inclusive gaming in local sports clubs. E4A works to develop gaming in existing sports teams, organize gaming events for children during school holidays, and create opportunities for students. They also emphasize gaming as a tool for digital competence development.
Another key area of Trude’s research is gender in e-sports. She collaborates with Better e-sport and experienced coach Cathrine Finstad to explore whether gender matters in gaming—a question that remains open but deeply intriguing.
