Om prosjektet
Project description in hospitals, pathologists examine high-resolution tissue images on large screens, which can limit their flexibility. Virtual Reality (VR) technology offers a solution which allows pathologists to view their work in a 3D environment and enable them to examine tissue samples remotely. The main objective of this bachelor project is to investigate whether VR headsets could serve as an alternative display tool, allowing for a more mobile working environment. We develop a solution which focuses on enabling the viewing of extremely detailed pathology images in a VR environment with functionality for zooming and navigating. The final goal is not to deliver a complete product due to our time limitation, but to develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), that could be tested and evaluated by the hospital. Nonetheless, we are successful in delivering an application which allows pathologists to zoom in/out and navigate images with high resolution. In addition, the project demonstrates the possibility of integrating virtual reality into pathology, which can improve the ongoing digital transformation of healthcare. In conclusion, this bachelor project thesis lays a solid foundation for further research and development on how innovative technology can contribute to more modern and efficient healthcare services.
