Om prosjektet
The main objective is to offer a possible alternative to the environmental problem caused by construction. With this project he intends to analyse the feasibility, at a technical and economic level, which could be obtained in real life. It focuses on creating new materials and components than traditional ones.
A lot of pollution comes from producing materials like reinforced concrete, which is made of concrete and steel. The production of both materials creates a significant carbon footprint. Additionally, once reinforced concrete is used in construction, it’s very difficult and costly to recycle and reuse it.
For this project, a new material called geopolymer, or “green cement,” has been developed to replace traditional concrete to eliminate Co2 emissions. To create the internal structure of this material, a new technology called Additive Manufacturing (AM) is used. This structure is 3D-printed using Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), a plastic material, and features a new design.
The results show that the ABS structure improves the flexibility of the “green cement,” which is a big step forward in reducing pollution in the construction industry.
