Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to contribute to an upcoming edited volume titled:
Ethical Challenges and Practical Applications of AI in Education:
Equitable and Effective Implementation
This volume will be published as part of the *Advances in Artificial Intelligence in Education* series by Springer Nature.
Editors
- Dr. Irina Engeness (Professor, Østfold University College, Norway)
- Dr. Halvdan Haugsbakken (Associate Professor, Østfold University College, Norway)
- Dr. Leonora Bergsjø (Associate Professor, Østfold University College, Norway)
- Dr. Marianne Hagelia (Associate Professor, Østfold University College, Norway)
Scope and Contributions
This edited volume offers a comprehensive, research-informed exploration of how artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming education across a variety of contexts. It aims to bridge theoretical foundations with practical strategies, providing both conceptual insights and hands-on guidance for educators, researchers, policymakers, and ed-tech professionals.
We seek contributions that critically engage with AI in education through theoretical, empirical, and practice-oriented research. Submissions may come from monodisciplinary, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary perspectives, and should offer insight into how AI reshapes pedagogy, learning environments, and institutional practices.
We welcome chapters that address (but are not limited to) the following focus areas:
- Theoretical Foundations of AI in Education
- Strategies for Constructive and Ethical AI Implementation
- Context-Specific Applications and Limitations
- AI for Language Learning
This volume aims to provide interdisciplinary insights into the evolving role of AI in education and invites contributions that are theoretically grounded, empirically rich, and pedagogically relevant.
Keywords
Artificial Intelligence in Education, AI Chatbots, Large Language Models (LLMs), Ethical Use of AI, Assessment with AI, Personalized Learning
Submission Guidelines
We invite potential contributors to submit a title and extended abstract (600–700 words, excluding references). Abstracts should clearly outline the research questions, theoretical framework, methodology (if applicable), and expected contribution to the field. A standardized chapter template will be provided to maintain coherence across the volume.
