Overview of the academic field
The majority of the researchers in DigiTech are affiliated with the Institute of information technology and communication at the Faculty for Information Technology, Engineering and Economics. The faculty is led by Dean Harald Holone and is located at both campuses, Fredrikstand and Halden. The faculty have approximately 100 employees and 1850 students divided among the three institutes.
DigiTech covers a broad research area within information technology and communication. The projects explore, among other things, robotics, artificial intelligence, software, user involvement, information strategy and management, and privacy and data security. Computer and information technology affect many various sectors of society such as business, science, engineering companies, the field of education and health and welfare sectors, in addition to people's everyday lives. DigiTech is thus, to a large degree, relevant to current and future business and community life.
On this basis, DigiTech is constantly developing new projects that vary from basic research to applied and interdisciplinary projects with the aim of developing, exploring and implementing technological solutions in sectors such as utilities, health and welfare, education, industry and the public sector. In addition, research on information technology itself is conducted.
