ⓘ Created with the help of artificial intelligence
This page was created with the help of artificial intelligence by a staff member at HiØ, and reviewed editorially.
Østfold University College (HiØ) offers staff and students access to a set of approved AI tools on secure accounts, together with guidelines and training. This page gives an overview in English. The detailed pages on our intranet are maintained in Norwegian and are the authoritative source – this overview links to them.
Approved tools
All four are reached by logging in with your HiØ account, which keeps your use within HiØ's secure framework.
| Microsoft Copilot | Writing and language editing, summarising, brainstorming, and help directly inside Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Can search the web and show sources. |
| Google Gemini | Text and explanations, idea development, help with images and documents, and support inside Google tools. |
| NotebookLM | Studying your own sources: upload curriculum, articles or notes and get summaries, explanations and grounded question-and-answer. |
| UiO-GPT | A securely developed solution for safe use. |
Tools that have not been assessed and approved by HiØ should not be used for work or study – especially not with personal or sensitive data.
Data classification – the one ground rule
What you may enter into a tool depends on how the data is classified (green, yellow, red), and approval is cumulative. The tools are currently available for green (open) data, while verification for yellow data is in progress. Until yellow approval is confirmed, use green data only. The data classification pages on the intranet are the authoritative source.
Responsible use
Openness is the default at HiØ: note what AI has been used for, as your context requires. Always check facts and sources, as AI can be wrong. Never enter sensitive personal data or confidential information, even on a secure account.
