Requirements for a good Password

The password service has a number of requirements for password strength. Here are some of the key points summarized.

  • A new password should not resemble a password you have used before too closely.
  • A new password cannot contain your name or username.
  • If you use Apple products or have a keyboard layout other than Norwegian, it may be wise to avoid national characters like ÆØÅæøå in your password.
  • Remember that you should be able to type the character on all the keyboards you use.
  • A new password must have a certain length, which increases or decreases depending on the strength of the rest of the password.

You can see if your password is approved using the password strength indicator displayed below the top password field when setting or changing your password.

Regular change of password

Well before your password expires, you will receive an email reminder. If you do not change your password before the deadline, your account will be locked, and you will then have to unlock it again in the Password Service.

  • Everyone must change their password at least once a year.

2-factor authentication / MFA
