Health centers and General Practitioner

There is no health centre for students at Østfold University College and students may therefore consult any public general practitioner within normal opening hours.

Students who are members of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme are assigned a GP and should contact the corresponding medical centre for an appointment.

Outside normal opening hours, you can also consult the public emergency medical service (‘legevakt’). Call 116 117 to get in contact with the emergency medical service in Halden or Fredrikstad.

Student counselling

Are you struggling with homesickness, depression, problems in close relationships, low motivation or just need to talk to somebody? The Student Welfare Organisation in Østfold (SiØ) offers all students individual counselling and short-term therapy, and can provide health care information on sexually transmitted diseases, contraception, pregnancy, abortion and more. Book an appointment with one of SiØ’s counsellors. The service is free for all students at Østfold University College.
