This study explores experimental project-based learning through the FREIIA project, where students address real societal challenges in European island communities via international collaboration and action learning. Findings show that authentic, multicultural project environments foster leadership, problem-solving under uncertainty, and practical application of theoretical concepts while contributing to sustainable local development.
