The IRG has PhD supervision capabilities for research embedded in the twin green & digital transitions towards a carbon-neutral society.

Dr Gunnar Andersson

Presently, his research explores innovation processes and the effects on organizing work embedded in the twin green & digital transition. He is from fall 2022 researcher in the EU Interreg-funded research project FREIIA on developing a design thinking-based & practice-oriented framework for sustainable development. 

Supervising of PhD-candidates:

  • Self-sustainable business models: John-Erik Andreassen, Faculty of Social Sciences, Stavanger University (2023 – now)
  • Green Business Models in Green Business Model Value Networks: Miriell Torgersen, Department of Business Development and Technology Aarhus School of Business and Social Sciences, Aarhus University (2021 – 2023).
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Defining the concept, how to measure it, how to teach it and its role in the venture creation process: Matthew Lynch in the Faculty of Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (2016 – 2020).
  • The creation of a cluster project – innovation processes in the creation of a cluster project: Frode Ramstad Johansen, Planning and Development, Aalborg University (2014 –2019).

Per Valter

Per Valter is an Associate Professor of innovation, technology, and sustainable business development and he has successfully attracted funding to several international research projects as well as participated in multiple EU / Interreg projects. The main research fields are Digitization of/in Business Models, Sustainable Business Development,Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Besides his role in academia, Per Valter has successfully founded serval startup companies and growing them to the exit stage. Børsen awarded him the Gazelle Award in 2013, 2014, 2019, and 2020 for creating and leading one of Denmark's fastest-growing companies. In addition to these business achievements, he is a Graduate in Computer Science. He holds an Executive MBA - Master in Management of Technology, MSc in Business and Management Research at the Henley University of Reading, and a PhD degree in Social Sciences and Business from Aarhus University. He is an experienced bachelor's and master's level teacher and supervises PhD students.

Research interests are Digitization, Sustainable Business Development, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Dr Frode Ramstad Johansen

Presently, he is working in the EU Interreg-funded research project FREIIA on developing a design thinking-based & practice-oriented framework for sustainable development.

With a background in studying uncertainty and emergence in innovation processes, he focuses on the capacity for action within these contexts. Specifically, he explores the interactions between actors and artifacts that lead to an action net. His research aims to understand the connections that enable collaboration, facilitating the development of improved work processes that strengthen both work life and sustainability.

In recent years, his work has contributed to better collective work processes, aiding organisations and local communities in creating improved and more sustainable solutions. As lead of the Trustworthy AI Lab at the university, Dr. Johansen is also engaged locally and internationally in assessments of the reliability of AI solutions and the ethical considerations surrounding their implementation by organisations.

Dr. Johansen's approach emphasizes action and process perspectives, offering insights into emerging processes and helping actors navigate through them effectively. His supervision follow the same path, it's intensive and helping students navigate their project through the flow of new knowledge, connections and tasks.
