PhD-Program

Digitalisation and Society

Background

I have a degree in social science from MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society and the University of Oslo. I have been the CEO of Lightup Norway from August 2016 to July 2024. Lightup is a youth organisation that mobilises young people in preventive work against human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Through my position as general manager of this organisation, I have gained professional expertise in topics such as sexual exploitation and children and young people's exposure to digital pornography. Developing educational teaching resources and disseminating knowledge to young people has been among my primary tasks, through teaching school classes and student groups, both at secondary schools, upper secondary schools and in universities.

Academic interests

I am a research fellow at Østfold University College, connected to the PhD programme Digitalisation and Society. The title of my doctoral project is Exposure of Children and Youth to Digital Pornography: Teachers’ and students’ experiences and perceptions of teaching practice. Through this project I will investigate the topic of children and youth's exposure to digital pornography, as well as teachers' teaching strategies in dealing with this topic. The aim of this project is to identify the challenges and opportunities to strengthen critical thinking in school teaching about digital pornography.

My supervisors are Hilde Wågsås Afdal and Beate Goldschmidt-Gjerløw.
