Academic interests

My academic interests focus on motivation and how to create environments that foster adaptive and meaningful forms of motivation. In recent years, I have worked on various aspects of physical education, including planning and organisation, factors influencing enjoyment and meaningful experiences, and how best to prepare future physical education teachers to meet the challenges associated with the subject.

I am also interested in how we can facilitate a more practical and active school day, the relationship between physical activity and mental and physical health, and how physical activity can be integrated into the holistic treatment of individuals experiencing mental health challenges.

I investigate these topics using both quantitative and qualitative research approaches.
