In my presentation three main points are discussed:
- how we teach during the war in Ukraine
- how to work with ‘special’ young learners
- how to teach them English using flashcards.
School education in Ukraine and in Kharkiv is online, not only because of the danger of Russian regular missiles, but because the schools are in ruins. One of the ways out was to open Metroschool in the underground for young learners. In the presentation it is discussed how to teach special needs young learners.
There are classroom strategies and best practices. Teaching English to learners with special needs requires patience, understanding, and flexibility. It is essential to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that caters to the individual needs of each learner. Flashcards can help learners with special needs. Some tips to teach English with flashcards are discussed, shown and explained.
