This workshop is a fully funded one-day professional development for elementary (English) language teachers. The workshop will guide teachers through practical approaches using reading strategies and the process of designing a lesson for learning to read using picture books.
The workshop is sponsored by the Fremmedspråksenteret and US Fulbright Specialist program and is one of the products from the Fulbright International Project [FIP]. This workshop is an extension of the Fremmedspråksenteret’s focus on reading and practical approaches to language teaching. Presenters will be presenting in Norwegian and English.
Who is invited?
The workshop is open to all practicing primary school (English) teachers, grades 1–7.
Why is participation valuable?
Teachers will experience strategies, routines and methods that exemplify practical teaching approaches for language learning through reading as a basic skill. Teachers will leave the workshop with a framework for choosing books and strategies for designing materials that can be taken directly into the classroom.
