Rachel Dagnall: Sonic Scenography

April 28-July 14: Master student in Scenography Rachel Dagnall present her final MA project Sonic Scenography

Sonic Scenography by MA student Rachel Dagnall is a series of twelve radio broadcasts about the experience of incarceration. The theme is explored through non-verbal sound or sonic scenographies composed by former inmates in Beirut, Syria, the Mojave Desert, Oslo, Berlin and Barcelona.

The project aims to showcase artistic expressions about prison, surveillance and imposed mental and physical demarcation, and illustrate how such experiences distort or change our interpretation of space and immediate surroundings.

Actors move and create images of one specific place - both physical and mental - in the form of musical performances, physical movements, readings, conversations and more, with the use of resonance bringing a specific focus to the different rooms in which this takes place.

Radio Tenthaus is a new discursive platform open to artists from across different disciplines and backgrounds from sound to visual art, text, spoken word and much more. This multi-disciplinary radio programme will broadcast weekly, every Tuesday from 20:00 to 23:00 on 105.8 FM and online via: www.interfm.no

The first radio broadcast of Sonic Scenography is Tuesday April 28 at 20:00.

Sonic Scenography is commissioned by and produced in collaboration with Radio Tenthaus and forms Rachel’s Master project at Norwegian Theatre Academy, Høgskolen i Østfold.
