Academic interests
Currently, I am working part time as "førstelektor" (associate professor) and part time as a PhD candidate. Both my research and teaching interests revolve around generative artificial intelligence (AI), in particular chatbots in writing, assesment and learning.
My Phd project is called Writing in the Age of Chatbots, where I follow Norwegian students (and their teachers) in upper secondary school over three years to explore their chatbot-mediated writing practices. My first PhD paper was published in March 2026: Who - or what - is writing now?
March 2026 also marks the start of our Nordic-Baltic NordForsk research project called "Generative AI in Education for Young Adults" (GAIYA) (2026-2030) where I participate together with my colleague Ilka Nagel. One of the overall aims is to explore how upper secondary students and teachers across the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish (L1) subjects use chatbots.
I belong to the research groups Research in Digital Education (RIDE) as well as AI Network (AI in Education)
In my teaching and development work I collaborate with schools and teachers in school-based continuing professional development projects, related to teachers' professional digital competence (pdc), genAI/chatbots in assessment and writing, and other relevant topics related to the national curriculum. I find working with teachers and school leaders very rewarding. As part of this work I have translated and edited a framework for assesment/ learning and AI, called the AI Assessment Scale (Perkins et al., 2024). The Norwegian version is called Rammeverk for vurdering og KI (VuKI) and can be found as an open resource in this mooc module (Module 9).
Also I create content for and teach several of our existing online courses, so-called MOOCs, as well as develop new ones. I have worked pedagogically and administratively in running our future classroom lab, called Digital læringsverksted (DLV). I am the academic environment coordinator for the ICT and learning environment.
My background still influences my areas of interest in my current job. I have a master's degree in Nordic literature and therefore have a particual eye for the Norwegian language subject. I have 11 years of experience as a Norwegian and English teacher in upper secondary school.
I also enjoy dissemination and speaking, both in the classroom, as well as at conferences for teachers and school leaders – and others who are concerned with learning in technology-rich environments. Finally, I have recorded (and sometimes still record) the podcast episodes concerning both the Norwegian (L1) subject in Norskpraten, as well as pedagogical issues in Skolelys
