We welcome all of you—scholars, students, and staff alike—to our second open webinar in the series on critical pedagogies/perspectives in higher education. 

We are pleased to announce that our next guest is Professor Megan Boler (University of Toronto), author of, among other works, Feeling Power: Emotions and Education (1999). The webinar will invite participants to discuss "pedagogy of discomfort" - a pedagogy that engages us to question cherished beliefs and assumptions. The webinar will not be recorded, and we urge everyone interested to sign up (see below).

The webinar is centered around critical reflexivity, and will be based on his published book: Becoming a Critically Reflective Teacher (Brookfield, 2017). RIDE member Ilka Nagel (HiØ) has collaborated with researchers from other teacher education institutions - Toril Aagaard (USN), Synnøve Amdam (HVo), Fredrik Mørk (NTNU), Johan Kristian Andreasen (UiA) - and researchers from NIFU – Cathrine Pedersen, Carl Vika, Stephan Daus – to follow up on survey data collected from teacher educators (N = 389) from five teacher education institutions in 2021 and they have published three articles focusing on teacher educators’ professional digital competence (PDC).

SIMTEK is an interprofessional research group from the health and welfare education programs at HiØ. Our main goal is to explore the design, quality assurance, and implementation of methods that foster knowledge and competence development. Through research on the use of simulation and technology, we prepare students and professionals to meet the needs of the future.
