Context and themes
At a time of turbulent social change, in which social media shapes so many people's perspectives and actions, the need to develop a critical perspective is particularly important. Conspiracy theories and lies are viewed as truth and it´s easy to retreat to one´s own ´echo chamber´ of like-minded people sharing the same opinions.
In this webinar, Stephen [who lives in Minneapolis] will draw on his own experiences to explore how critical reflection can be developed. The webinar will present the main ideas in the aforementioned book, and run as an engaging conversation around three topics:
- The concept of critically reflective teaching, including the meanings of and similarities/differences between reflection and reflexivity (chapter 1).
- The applicability of the approach in different fields and contexts
- The practical use of the four lenses of critical reflection (chapter 4).
Each segment will include Brookfield´s own observations, how his ideas evolved, and his practical experiences, followed then by questions and discussion with and between the webinar participants. There will be a 10-15 min. break midway in the webinar. The webinar will be held in English.
