Mikromodul: 'Practical Critical Pedagogy'

Critical Pedagogy (CP), as a form of transformative pedagogies, focuses on developing critical, creative thinking skills, examining power structures, and encouraging students to question (received) established knowledge. By focusing on the CP and its significance in the teaching profession, the session will explore the implementation of the dialogic teaching and address the challenges for its implementation in higher education. Meanwhile, the main learning activities with CP and the teaching activities within CP are discussed in the module. The participants will have the opportunity to engage in practical dialogic activities in this meeting.

Teaching plan

Part 1: The facilitator presents the topic and encourages the participants to share their thoughts and experiences on the relevant themes under presentation.

Part 2: The participants are divided into two groups for engaging and discussing two different dialogic activities concerning the use of CP in higher education.

Part 3: Both groups share their reflections on the given dialogic activities. This part also includes the personal reflections of the facilitator.

Facilitator

Abdulghani Muthanna is a critical pedagogue with expertise grounded in teaching and research on transformative pedagogies, including the critical pedagogy. His extensive teaching-research experience at different international contexts eases an authentic dialogue between him and the participants, leading to fruitful and satisfactory outcomes.
