Text-in-context
The research group Text-in context is hosted by the Department of Languages, Literature and Culture at Østfold University College. It is also open for colleagues from other institutions and faculties at Østfold University College.
The research group directs the attention toward text in all its forms and we interpret the concept of text in a wide sense. The group is cross-disciplinary, and we approach texts from several perspectives, e.g. from linguistic, and sociological points of view. The study of translated texts has always been central to the group, and lately, we have also taken an interest in discourse on environmental issues and sustainability, as well as texts thematizing feminism, democracy and multiculturalism.
These are a few of the areas where our members are active researchers:
Discourse analysis
Systemic-functional grammar
Multimodality
Image analysis
Literary text analysis
Translation and interpreting
Language didactics
Over the years, the group has published four anthologies.
