“The Digital Society” initiative strengthens with new PhD students

After a yearlong process that has started by publishing an open call for PhD projects proposals focused on the strategic research initiative “The Digital Society” in September 2018, we are now coming to a finish line with 8 new PhD students.

In the beginning of April 2019 Østfold Universty College has announced open calls for 8 new PhD positions, one more position than originally planned with the help of Østfold community council. These calls were based on the selected externally evaluated project proposals. Total number of applicants has gone over all expectations and have resulted in a very good selection of candidates for all 8 positions.

In the end of June and beginning of July all of the selected candidates have accepted offered positions after a series of interviews. Currently, most of them are working on their applications to the PhD programs at the following institutions: University of Oslo, Oslo Metropolitan University – OsloMet, The Arctic University of Norway and one of the candidates has already been accepted to the OsloMet with the start in the early September.

We look forward welcoming our new PhD students and employees and wish them good luck during their PhD adventure.
